Lessons from nature do not always come as we expect them to. Sometimes we have to wait. Sometimes we have to explore. Sometimes we have to be brave.
A remote island in northern Canada on Lake of the Woods was my home for 15 years with my husband and Alaskan malamute. All the while, learning lessons from nature. My first book, The Pack - Perils and Peace of Nature tested our endurance with nature's relentless pounding - impervious fog, dangerous ice conditions, hunted by wolves, lost and separation of our Pack members.
My newest release, Brave Face - Nature and Perils of Pain is a continuation of our perseverance through encounters with wolves, black bear, storms, and failures; all while attempting to bring utilities to our off-grid fire-acre island. Suddenly, my husband, Jim is ravaged by neurological pain that sets in motion a slow progression that erodes our lifestyle and our bond to each other. We find ourselves immersed in denial and rage, while struggling to adapt to a new world of chronic pain.
