brave face - nATURE AND PERILS OF PAIN

By the time they had put on their winter suits and helmets for the ride home on the windjammer, snow had begun to fall. Thick and wet, driving snow blinded them. Their path became invisible. The snow kept falling; nickel size flakes, so pretty, so deadly. They were lost. There was life. There was death. There were hardships and ecstasies in the remote wilderness. The couple persevere through encounters with wolves, black bear, storms, and failures amidst their attempts to bring utilities to the barren five-acre island. They bring new meaning to off the grid.

Unsuspecting, unwanted, Jim is ravaged by neurological pain that sets in motion a slow progression that erodes their lifestyle and their bond to each other. As they search for a cure, they find themselves immersed in denial and rage, while struggling to adapt to a new world of chronic pain. Their only hope is the strength of their foundation in nature. They understand that their test will be the survival of the fittest. For that, they must be brave.
